I am interested in digital technologies (particularly software) and how we not only interact with them, but how we design them, approach them, and integrate them into our personal, professional and public lives.

Professionally, I am a user experience designer and software/web developer. I have studied computer science at Valparaiso University and human-computer interaction at Virginia Tech.

Situated Bit

The name Situated Bit is borrowed very loosely from Lucy Suchman’s Plans and Situated Actions. In designing software and digital systems, I want to be mindful of the idea that we always use technologies in specific contexts with particular goals. Well-designed tools will empower users to appropriate those tools as their context and goals evolve.

On my part, building these tools requires empathy for users and direct user involvement in the creation process.
